And Im back? November 13th, 2008.br /-------------------------br /Been offline since like, november 3rd. (REASON HERE) Havent been bothering to keep a journal much lately (when online) cause I just dislike typing lots, and stuff happens rarely. Like now, the only reason Im even doing this is because I have multiple things to write about.br /br /1 - Last night, my dad came home, the kitten (AJ) came in with him. He walked into the office to tell me something, and then wondered what something was on the floor. I turned around to look at it (he was at the other end of the office, imagine its size to be like a master bedroom), and he turned the lights at that end on... and we both saw the kitten was soaking wet. We laughed at it, went over and checked it out, and while its body was wet, the back of its neck and top of the head were dry, while unde rthe chin was wet. What had happened was obvious, he had gotten home a few minutes after kitten had fallen in the pool. I wish I could have seen it. He assumes it was trying to get a drink from the pool outside and just slipped and fell in. It was licking itself for like an hour afterwards, its 10 AM the next morning as I type this, and its dry now.br /br /2 - People have been over for weeks straight, and I was getting effing sick of it. The kitchen wasnt staying clean for more than a day, and I was getting tired of waking up to find people I dont know sleeping around the house. Well, my dad finally got over his little depression, is off and (doing something old, but new), and things are going well.%1 Well, yesterday I was like Alright, time to make some pizza! since I love making and eating homemade pizza, and the kitchen hasnt been nearly clean enough to do it in weeks. And I find the toaster oven broke. :\ So now we only have the microwave, and the top broiler burner in the main oven...br /br /3 - Ive been so damn bored, that Ive started making things. Weird things.br /A - A new game called toenail chain.br /B - Ive begun tracing (to look like MSPaint) the first manga chapter of bleach, and changing the text. its absolutely terrible, but I think itll get a few laughs.br /C - I went and modified my signature for online, since I keep a copy here. I added a biorhythm indicator again, but this time its actually a line graph of it, past and future. No longer just a simple text observation of what the current situation is. Also added the ability to put in multi-line quotes (FINALLY), so I went through a lot of old logs and found a lot of funny things to add in as quotes.br /D - Worked a tad more on that RP character energy signature thing I told Kiyo and Markup and such about, Ill be adding it to the projects section of my site along with a few other things a bit after I get back online, Ill explain it there.br /E - Ive started on a FreeMind mind map decribing a universe and game situation stuff, for making games or stories about.br /br /Id make better things, like a simple RPG engine for game maker, or more cool stuff in PHP, but being offline means I dont have access to the resources Id use to learn what I need to know.br /br /... that, and it seems half the programs I use keep their help manuals online, instead of installed with the program, so Im even shorter on help. -.-;br /br /%1 - Well, better than no job. Ive got nothing to do since they have their own office and they take care of the paperwork, so I need a job. Might go into some shopping center nearby and see if I can get hired by being all Well I never finished high school and have no certifications, but I can show you that I actually know stuff, and know enough to know when Im out of my league, and know how to look up info and read the technical manuals, and usually spend my free time during the day on tech support forums online giving help, and wont go and work on peoples machines on pure guesses, Ill actually know what Im doing before I do it!. Thatd be like, my dream side job while I save up for real certifications and crap to get on with my life, but if not, I could see about putting an ad in the paper offering to fix computers, making sure to add something like If your personal data is still intact, I can fix your problem without erasing it all. Id actually have done it earlier, but my fear is a lot of the problems will be driver-related, and lots of driver packages are like 50 megs or more, and Im still on dialup. :\br /br /br /br /November 21st, 2008.br /-------------------------br /Ugh, I feel like Im slowly going crazy or something. The good news is I found an old copy of the php manual I had on a disc (its got PHP5 so its not that old, but its like at least half a year or more old) and so Ive made a bit of progress with it, and other things.br /br /Worked a bit more on that energy signature thing, and went ahead and made another thing or two to go along with it, just for fun.br /Got the core of a new screensaver working, its rather a copy of a linux one I saw a while ago and fell in love with. Yes, that one with the orbs shooting at eachother.br /br /Id really like to learn rigging and such in blender so I could make something, or a series of somethings worthwhile that I might actually be proud of, but... the manual and such are online, and its blender, so like HELL Ill be able to figure enough out on my own. Even WITH the internet its still a chore learning how to use it.br /br /Oh, and I finally beat the first lufia game. I got really pissed off about 3/4ths of the way through and just turned off enemy encounters, and besides the go to this city, then that city, then this cave annoyance, the rest of the game was actually enjoyable.br /br /I could write a book about bad habits in designing video games, but Id get lazy halfway through and make the dungeon section be mostly Look at the final dungeon to Breath Of Fire 2. If you do something like that, I will find out, and rip your lungs out. sort of things.br /br /Armana and AJ have been sick. Sneezing all over the place, even on us sometimes.br /br /Called Kiyoske and Whitney a few times so far to let them know Im not dead. If I dont get back online within a few days or so Ill see if Kiyo will contact other people for me.br /br /br /br /November 22st, 2008.br /-------------------------br /Went through and found old versions of some of the games. Found that game maker 7 can take old .gm6 files and resave the executables so they work on vista. The Rusty Launch game is the only one I think is amusing enough anymore to bother converting, I even gave it an actual transparent icon to celebrate it, and upped its version to 1.1 after changing a few values in the game. Mostly I made it slower. Its more enjoyable this way.br /br /When I get back online Ill seriously see if anybody is willing to mail me some good music-music.br /br /And yes, I still fail at platform physics. I did attempt to create a gravity slingshot around planets system like with Larange (fun fun game) to use it for some neat tricks, but Im rather too lazy to fine-tune everything just right. That, and I found GM7 has an odd issue or two with the way the new programmer(s) changed handling of draw and step events compared to the old version, wondering if its on purpose or not.br /br /Mmm. Inside.s3m is magically delicious.br /br /br /br /November 27th, 2008.br /-------------------------br /Went to Kylers for thanksgiving, ate tons of food, brock was there to joke around and have fun with and such. Also got use of teh webbernets for a few hours, left a message on talkhost, got in contact with a person or three. Went to the CT, and found a thread about me not being there in tech-talk. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Also used my spare time there to download some N64 and DS games. I really hope they all work...br /br /br /br /November 28th, 2008.br /-------------------------br /The DS games worked, but slowwwwly.br /Also, found out tomorrow evening Im moving. Packing up my stuff and going to stay with my grandmother for a few weeks while dad finds and gets a new place set up.br /br /br /br /November 30th, 2008.br /-------------------------br /Well, Im at my grandmothers, its 10:16 PM here, Ive got the computer unpacked and some of my stuff (a majority is at the house still, dad will move it when he moves into the new place) with me. Shes got DSL and a router here, tonight my dad and I went and got a wireless PCi card for the computer (WPN311) since its upstairs and the rest of the stuff is downstairs. Tomorrow Ill go downstairs and find the wireless security key its using so I can get back online!br /Well, the computers not fully up yet. I forgot to bring the mousepad, and Im on a plastic pick... piknic (spelling?) table thing. And I dont have a power strip I know of here with grounds so I dont have a lamp (the overhead light here is dim) or speakers... and the chair Im using is a card table chair... but its better than nothing and still allows me to entertain myself with the computer. Now to go back and wipe the real reason Ive been gone from the previous entries, just to make people wonder!br /br /br /br /December 1st, 2008.br /-------------------------br /Found another plug outlet thing near the computer so Ive got a speaker hooked up.br /And teh webbernets! Whoooo! Now to go make a triumphant return. Been offline for a while. Will probably be offline for a bit longer. Damn. Went to grandmothers for the weekend. Was mostly boring. I did get bought some new clothes, though. Long jeans (low riders, theyre really comfy (now I see why women wear them), just need to get used to them) and some long-sleeved shirts for winter, yay!br /br /The weekend was... boring. Really boring. Its almost always boring there, oh well.br /br /We left this morning, last night I did my first official computer job. The official meaning I was recruited through somebody else for once. Just helped set up this ladys new laptop. Did the fist run setup, made sure no critical driver updates were needed, removed the symantec trial, installed AVG/Spybot (Ive been meaning to check out something else to install to peoples computers, like Avast, but AVGs done well for me as a Protect, but stay the hell out of their sight product, and spybots immunizer has saved many potential asses), set up her printer, wireless internet (they were missing an ethernet cable so I had to reset the router and connect wirelessly to set it up since I didnt have access to the original key)... I got paid $25, and I spent more time watching progress bars than I did interacting with the thing. Feel a little guilty, but the ladys very happy (its not like her or anybody else in the house is computer-stupid, she has just been busy and wanted help setting it all up the first time and theyve been busy) and its $25 I didnt have earlier.br /br /I need to get up and make the thread where I ask for music recommendations... Id like the results, though the amount of work Ill need to do making sure my music tastes are clear, piled ontop of me having more internet stuff to catch up on, means it might have to wait a few days.br /br /AJs growing, too. Getting longer fur and such. I got a mohawk. My hairs dense. If it gets long enough to block my vision then I can no longer get at my scalp to clean it, it gets all dry, and I get terrible dandruff. I woke up Chris after doing it and he did a triple-take. XDbr /br /Will only keep it for a few more days, its a bit annoying. Site revamp! Re-did my site.br /br /Have been meaning to clean it up and simplify things anyways. People were pressing me to move it over to wordpress instead of having it mostly done manually. I entertained the thought, and got as far as installing it and reading the theming documentation when I realized it wasnt for me. I mean, not that wordpress is a demon or anything, but its too big for me. I like making a site, not installing a CMS and commenting out 90% of the features.br /br /Removed some way old stuff from the site as well. All the games are gone forever, theyre through making their laughs and dont work on vista anyways. Added links to some little side projects Ive had, and am actually happy with it, I did this in 24 hours and its fully up to speed.br /br /Of course the art system is a little [i]too[/i] simple, if I care enough I might make it link to a viewer files instead of the image itself, and look into including a little description (just including a text file with the same filename as the image). Was thinking of pagination, but eh. The thumbnails are small as it is ans the rest of the site layout isnt exactly huge.br /br /Still need to get another installation of cutenews up. If I bother, really. Another dream and various updates. So I had a dream last night, that I went back into school (I have this dream usually, usually the same school layout with the same classes). P.E. was first, we... played baseball, but at the foot of the bleachers, the bat was wooden and the ball was metal, so you couldnt hit it very far, usually youd hit it up and to the left a bit, people would just jump from their places (facing the bleachers were rows of seats but the section I was in was th only one playing), and grab it and try to tag you with it before you climbed up a row of the bleachers to the safe row. Was kinda fun.br /br /Then when P.E. was over, we grabbed out backpacks and filed out. While passing a water fountain, this one guy asked what I was going to do. I said Im going to be studying game making with the Irrlicht and OGRE engines. Then people dispersed 9down separate hallways) and... I realized I had no clue where my class was, or what it was. So I headed to the front office to get a schedule since I assume this is my first day.br /br /The entrance to the school is based on VB Middle, so heading up to the office I noticed a lot of commotion in the auditorium. I walked a few feet over there, chewing some gum (if some storyline part gave it to me Ive forgotten it), with a big (slightly larger than my hand) wad of unchewed gum (complete with the slight powder coating) in my hand. Talked with Tim (fireman Tim from Florida) and he was preparing to perform (was right outside the doors for some reason), and I was looking around for some clean bag or something to save the unchewed wad of soft gum in... when I was woken up by the kitten pouncing around me.br /br /She finally got a neme, AJ (my dad and Chris jokingly call her Armana Junior since she mimics her mother, and it stuck), and is as hyper as ever.br /br /I slept on the floor in the office. Dad had a few friends over last night, and he went to sleep at like 11 PM (I planned on sleeping a bit before that, but got caught up finishing stuff online), and unfortunately when he does one of the friends likes to bring over a friend that brings over two friends when the original fell asleep and such, so sometimes I come out of the office to get a drink or something and theres like five people I dont know. :\ Usually when he wakes up he yells at them, since theyre quiet on purpose since the original inviter left, but that means I am sometimes kept up.br /br /Or that like last night, my dad went and slept in my room (he probably assumed I was going to be up all night, which I of course cant blame him for doing) while waiting for the people waiting for their ride (nobody has a ride, its a law of nature) that were hanging out in his room watching TV. Now, its not like my dads in my room any more than an hour, but usually I dont feel like waiting an hour to get my bed back and just go sleep somewhere else.br /br /br /br /In other news, I officially have a new computer, finally. Got to keep Mikes old one. AMD Athlon XP 2800+, half a gig of DDR400 memory, and an AGP 6200LE graphics card. Pathetic by todays gaming standards, but it flies in my eyes.br /br /br /br /In more news, Ive been working on a flat-file evolving pet management system in php, in hopes of selling it to people on gaia (thus the lack of databases and the simple layout, gotta keep it usable for those aspiring 15 year old artists using free hosting). Its been mostly fun work, except the template designing, thats a pain!br /a href=http://rydian.talkhost.info/evolving/http://rydian.talkhost.info/evolving//abr /Thats not always the current version, I have XAMPP installed so I can work on it when offline (on dialup), but right now Im mostly done taking feature requests, and am commenting it all (I didnt plan on it originally because its just a large collection of simple functions (and I dont condense things very hard cause it makes it harder to read when you go back to it, and speed isnt really important in a single-user data management thing), even though its over 1,500 lines anybody that knows PHP can look through all the files and see whats going on, since I name all my variables sort of large names. Commenting it cause somebody is paying me a lot extra to comment it for them. I turned 21 yesterday. Dad was having me help him pick out stuff to get when he would go shopping, sometime I think around or before midday. I told him he should pick up some cookies or a cake. Hes like Eh?, I told him Cause Im 21 today!br /br /He totally facepalmed. He had remembered it was coming up a few days ago, but not on the day itself. I told him just a poundcake would be nice, or whatever they had. So while at the store, he got a cake. Haiku time!br /br /Was a carrot cake.br /I dont eat the carrot cake.br /He felt like he had failed.br /br /Later that night he came up to me, all George, get in the car, were going to get you a cake. And we did. I got a nice little poundcake (he and Chris will be eating the carrot cake) and some cookie dough and cookies and cream icecream.br /br /On gaia, I got given a crapload of stuff. Like 250K+ golds worth at least. I feel loved.br /br /The kitten we kept (who has still not been named) is even more hyper now. Waking people up at 7 AM or so, attacking anything that moves (and some things that dont) and in general just being a happy kitty.br /br /Who takes monster dumps, I swear. |
